Information for parents on school opening arrangements from 24 March 2020

From tomorrow, schools are open for the purpose of providing supervision only to children of essential services workers and children who have high needs or are at high risk.

All learning will be delivered through our Google Classroom platform for students working from home as well as those who need to be at school.

There will be no additional or supplementary classroom teaching. Teachers will supervise students who need to be at school as they complete the same online lessons as those who are able to be at home.

All teachers will be working hard to develop and create learning content for students to continue their learning online. We appreciate that parents will have many questions about the delivery of remote learning. We will keep you informed as our plans develop.

Some school services will be scaled back and the school canteen will not be open.

In urgent cases, students can access the School Counsellors by telephone 9913 7820. Students can also email to schedule a timeslot. Additional detailed support information is available on the Wellbeing at Narrabeen section of our school website including WebChat counselling with services such as Kids Helpline and HeadSpace.

We will provide more detailed information around online delivery of learning in the coming days. The Learning from Home Advice to parents and carers section on the Department of Education website provides clear guidance on how parents can support their children’s learning at home.

Students learning from home will be entered into the school attendance system and this will not affect their overall attendance percentage rate. All students who are learning from home will be monitored closely by their teachers.

There is likely to be more information over the coming days and we advise you to stay alert for emails from the school.
